Raft

Why would you raise floors?
Hello.

I'm starting to build a larger raft and I noticed that there are pieces called raised floor.

And since it's not like you can get 2 floors with these I was wondering, why would you use this raised floors?

Does that mean what's built on the bottom isn't safe and can be destroyed by something I still haven't encountered yet?

Treat it like a ' Stage ' kind of furniture or imagine
using ' Raised ' floor as a outer walled structure of a castle.

As with pillar + flooring (more convenient and useful),
just that can't move under it and limitation of stacking, nothing dangerous.

The only thing I've used them for is to put a sail on. That way you can see under it when you adjust the steering. Other people crouch to look under it.

Only the shark attack your raft foundation.
You can put some armor on it to totally prevent this, but since it cost quite a bit of ressources you would want to have more floor in your raft.
While there is a few option to do it, raised floor are probably the worse in term of efficiency .
Feel free to totally ignore it.

Thanks for answers.

Does this trick still works? https://youtu.be/bIbn3IfQWmY?t=113

And also, building a floor with triangle so you don't have to worry about pillars?

Thanks

While i'm not totally sure, I left the middle of my raft without armor on it for a long time and the shark never attacked any part of my raft. the game probably try to draw a square around your raft and let the shark attack his side, since in my case my raft look like a T and the midle wasn't armored yes still had direct access to the sea.

About triangle, yes it works. Triangle floor are immune to gravity.

Shark can only target foundations on the outside, but will also prioritize the corners or parts that stick out.

Sadly, raised floors can no longer be placed on pillars or fences. However, that was the only thing removed from the building tricks.

yeah.. I totally didn't armor all 200 ish foundations of my raft/boat.. nope... not at all... oh wait.. I did.

Raised floors more for look and design than some function. Many things are cosmetic in this. There are a few fixtures that are 1.5 units high, so a raised system might be able to be used with these to make floors over them, but then again - sometimes you can just build over them anyway... (like the advanced anchor, it needs 1.5 units tall to place, but once placed, you can slap floors over it no problems at the 1.0 marker)

the raised floors are good for if you have a lot of pipes snaking around the place as they sit on top of the pipes, so you can have a whole network of water and fuel pipes hidden under them. also good for making interesting looking staircases using the half stairs.

Were raised platforms able to be placed over pipes before? I never liked the look of them so never tried it before, but currently you can't place them over pipes. I've always used half pillars, half height windows, and half height walls to make floors that cover my pipes. They changed several things like this with the latest updates, for instance you can no longer place a nice railing behind a sprinkler, but walls can still be used.

>>> I love your raft, is there a possibility to have it where you can tour around it to show us?

Shark will only attack the outside edge too.

I have holes "inside" my raft perimeter for anchor, engines and water which are unarmored, and the Shark doesn't attack those.

As far as Gravity goes, i dont think there are many checks.

I decided to redo the stairs to my upper floor (the only thing supporting the floor) and ended up with a floating platform. I imagine if you have two supports touching each other, they support each other and dont care if all the other supports are removed. Or it was a bug. *shrugs*
