Eggs despawn.

Just an FYI:

I don't think I've seen anyone ever mention this, I always thought cluckers just didn't lay more eggs if there were several already on the floor, but it seems they despawn the same way everything else you don't pick up does. I was updating my big ship and noticed a bunch of eggs one spot, did some remodeling and when I came back those eggs were gone and there were new ones in different places.

I guess it makes sense, the game would probably crash if animal pens just got knee deep in eggs.

It is explained just like that on the wiki. You might get lucky and find 3 eggs from a clucker, but mostly 2.

i have a question about eggs - will there be more than 2-3 eggs if i would have more than one clucker?

Each clucker gets you 2, maybe 3 eggs. I usally keep 2 in a pen and if I let them go long enough I'll find 4, sometimes 5 eggs on the floor.
