Not cost effective and a waste of time to fool around with.
I still haven't gotten quite used to the arrow drop for the bow. Maybe I'll figure it out eventually.
Every time I think I have the arrow drop figured out, the Screecher reminds me that I definitely don't. I've been playing this game for good bit now and I'm perpetually terrible with the bow and I genuinely can't figure out why. I love bows in most games and usually have no issues learning the arrow drop, but I just can't seem to grasp it in Raft. This makes dealing with Screechers infinitely infuriating.
The only tip I've found recently that helps a little is to lead/aim an inch (real life measurement) above the Screecher. I still miss more shots than I'd care to admit.
At this point I only take shots when it's on the ground picking up a rock (when I actually get LOS), when it's flying straight at me, and then again right before it flies overhead. I think I've gotten overhead/on-the-ground accuracy to 50-70%, every other shot is a horrendous 20-40% accuracy.
I can hit him near every time without taking damage, ideally you want the high ground, makes it easier. But it's tedious.
Funny thing: I prefer low ground against the bird. :)
I also prefer the low ground, I can get a hit just about every time if the bird is flying down to me, then run forward to avoid the stone. Waiting for the next pass does make it tedious. Another advantage of this is the arrows that miss usually land near the area you run to while avoiding the stone.
warthog is even easier in water :)
Press X to doubt.
design of raft, to
make it come in only direction, and even easier,
it has to fly ' Up ' to your landing pad.
Could waste half a dozen of arrows at it, before it even reaches you in one sweep.
Yet protected under a Shelter.

Still, a waste of effort and time.
