Raft
why is this game so popular?
above elden ring, above final fantasy and all those top listed games what makes this game so much better?

Relaxing. Low violence. No guns. Chill alone or with friends on a waterworld with only your raft and whatever you design it into.

Stop by the occasional island for resources and chase the stories of people who were once there.

Also steam weighs popular games based on hits. It isn't always consistent and the game just left early access.

You get a lot for your money, plus Devs who listen and include requested items in the next update. (I asked for battery power level indicators.)

It's popular because it had a major update more recently than those games

because it's better than elden ring and FF is crap as it has already became a necro franchise just like NB2K, Football Manager, FIFA to name a few

Main enjoyment for me is building/sailing on the raft, doesn't seem to be much like it out there, subnautica is probably closest and that's well liked.

No man's sky has a similar chill approach to gameplay and is just as popular.

Not everyone enjoys the levels of stress/frustration a game like Dark Souls brings with its challenge, or the railroad directional gameplay that comes with FF games (i own both fwiw).

Its not better! Its just cheaper and and some hype after release so more people are willing to try it. I think ratings are a better judge of wether a game is better or worse

Atmospheric, beautiful sound design, simple but logical creative. Very calming. Even battle scenes are not stressful. Sometimes it's funny :)

It sat around 10,000-15,000 pretty consistently before 1.0 released, compared to almost 100,000 at the moment. It'll go down again once the hype calms down a bit

Why is raft getting so popular?

Because it's on sale and finaly received final part of story. Long years of waiting finished :)
And because it is quite niche survival game. other survival on raft clones weren't as successful.

This game is great and it has a fair/low price, also it had the last and biggest update since early acess, i couldn't recommend this game enough, give it a try i bet you will enjoy it as well. :cozybethesda:

Well, because it is fun.

This is such a loaded question. It's premise is also wrong. It's not that the game is *better* then the games you just listed it's because all the proper variables are being hit. Like people are pointing: it's on sale, just came out of Early Access and is a high quality Survival game that doesn't have ♥♥♥♥ to do with zombies so it fits it's own personal niche for the genre. Basically, it's in a class of it's own with little to no competitors and a fairly high demand.

This game is for people who want a survival crafting game that is fairly relaxed. As people have mentioned Subnautica is probably the closest you get to Raft but even that probably isn't right since Subnautica is just it's own condensed world. Basically this is like Minecraft but on the water.
