Game breaking bug (Utopia puzzle)

I have the exact same issue in this video, it has pissed me off to a point I haven't been in years all to realize it's just a literal game breaking bug that I can't do anything about... Tried to "solve" this for almost 30 minutes before looking it up and finding this video.

Smae thing is happening here. I thought there was a way to move around the glitch but there isn't.

Read the comments, it's not a bug it's just bad design. If you put the cogs on the left platform they pass through it, but if you put them on the right platform it works correctly.

simplest way to get past it is to put 2 boxes on the left hand lift. Put the cog on top then get onto the top of the lift. Pick the cog up and put on the table on the next floor. Then repeat till the 2 lifts are level.
