Literally every survival game has a timer where you can collect your loot apart from this 1. So no this is a time where devs can't do the simplest of things.
I agree at the easy part with resources, but it's more of the case when it comes to the new recipes, i got 3 of them and as i came out the water the shark got me, and then the bird a few seconds later. After i got on my boat i was about to put stuff away and put the recipes up the bird got me again ( i was under 2 roofs, it never happened when i first got there which is why i thought i was safe). The devs say it's our fault for dying and deal with it, yet they can't program damage properly.
My suggestion: Craftable or discoverable "safe" backpacks.
Allow players to obtain a backpack that increases inventory space and upon death the bag drops (and floats to the surface) and any item in the extra inventory slots can be recovered. Don't make them too big, maybe 4 slots or something (or multiple sizes requiring discovery).
Everybody wants more stuff to craft, more inventory would be welcome, and the ability to put prized loot in a bag so you have less of a chance of losing it would be nice. Win-win-win in my book.
I have over 300 games, i counted up how many of them are survival games where you can drop loot upon death (not including games like the forest as you keep your loot on death) and my findings are:
57 games total (i may have missed a few)
51 of those games you can rescue your loot
4 of them you couldn't (included darksouls 3 because im not sure you can retrieve the souls you lose, also didn't include raft)
The last 2 i couldn't remember if you drop your loot or not.. (my bad but if you want to add them to you can't, feel free)
So yeah i guess this just isn't true but they sure fall into the really damn lazy aspect of it.
Or add permadeath to normal mode because you know. Survival. It's not real survival if you respawn after you die.
I don't disagree with the idea but the decision is ultimately up to the developers. I play on easy to avoid losing anything myself.
Feel free to add the suggestion to the Suggestions / Ideas sub forum and maybe devs will eventually change it.
In the mean time there are mods that can make you not lose items on harder difficulties. Actually most aspects of the game can be changed by using mods.
Hard mode is essentially ironman mode if you play solo as you can't revive without help from someone else. Whole point of difficulty levels is to allow people to choose the difficulty they're comfortable with.
As I said, it's ultimately up to the developers. It's their game and they designed it that way. If you want to suggest changes to the design, it's better to do so in Suggestions / Ideas sub forum.
