It's old and very basic but shows the basic idea of the game, The prototype is single player only.
If you're curious about current version, there's plenty of let's play videos available on YouTube.
Or, as Helper mentioned, this game was first brought about on itch.io as a prototype before moving to steam. It has the fundamentals of the game, the surviving aspect and the building aspect, but, doesn't have the story (I don't think as I've not played it).
Yes, the prototype is basically you, raft, Bruce and endless ocean full of trash. No story or goals beyond survival. Story wasn't introduced until Update 10 released in Summer 2019 that introduced the First Chapter of the story line. Until then the game was a sandbox much like the prototype, just with more things to do and see and you did sort of have the goal of reaching the radio tower and see the whiteboard on top of it to see the first mention of Utopia.
