How to kill the shark fast?

Does anyone know how to kill the shark fast because I dont have enough time to mine by the islands

When you attack with good time (right after he open his mouth for a bite) you can kill the shark without beeing hit.

big tip is to always be moving away from the shark. This greatly increases the time you can successfully hit it. Use the metal spear or metal arrows.

This is one of the things that is significantly easier in multiplayer. One person distracts the shark while everyone else gathers.

Can confirm that the fastest way to do it is to stab/shoot in his mouth when he opens it. You must be in the water to do so. Also, you have additional time to get a second hit on his tail when he passes you. Collect arrows before harvesting him. If you leave him dead there, he won't respawn for five or so minutes so you can use that time to loot what you have to. Hope that helps :)

after you hit it the first time as pisaro says, turn and swim with the shark and you can hit it at least twice more before its too far. Then wait and repeat. I use spears.

Honestly killing it isn't worth it once you get an anchor unless you want its meat for food. The shark only stays by your raft unless you aggro it away from it, just park your raft far enough away from the islands where the shark wont aggro you while you mine but not so far that swimming back and forth is a pain. You'll get the hang of what distance is best the more that you play.

Can confirm, anchoring out a fair distance from islands is way way easier. Bruce stays with the raft and you can gather unhindered until you fill your inventory. I usually end up having to kill him on my way back, but the timing is easy once you get it down so not a problem at all. If you're really worried about getting away from the raft after anchoring out, toss in a shark bait and while hes distracted make your swim.

Personally, I use two methods,
1: I anchor the raft far from the island so that the shark does not interfere with me,
2: if you need to kill, then the easiest way to do it is with a bow and arrows

Early on it I anchor a distance away and avoid.

Spear works, but I prefer bow and arrow.

Lure it into shallow water. Get 3 or sometimes 4 shots in while it's near you.

Pretty quick death. Use shark meat for bonus health recipe.
