Raft

Animal Health
I seen some people complaining about leaving the raft and having their animals die, or they were worried about it. Here is something you should pay attention too.

First, the sprinkler system can maintain 8 plots, but that doesn't mean you should set it up this way. Every time the sprinkler activates to take care of those 8 plots it uses water and power. So when setting up your sprinkler system you should try to limit what each sprinkler is responsible for and try to have some overlap.

Example: If you setup a 3 x 3 grid of plots, put 4 sprinklers up in the center of each side. That way two sprinklers would have to go down in a row to have any plot which isn't watered and that would only be one plot.
Limit the amount of animals: You should never put more than 3 animals in a 9 plot area like above. The reason is simple, each animal that eats causes power loss in batteries and water from the sprinkler.

Following the above, you can go multiple days without worrying about your animals.

One sprinkler it takes care of 9 plots (one under the sprinkler itself which does grow and can get eaten by the animals.

I have no overlap but I have 18 plots (3x3 and another 3x3 with just two sprinklers and it lasts 4 days (just 3 animals, one of each)

But if I had the spare resources, I would add extra sprinklers with an overlap, to give extra time...
We really need a way to recharge batteries

Well I currently have a 50 plot area setup, and it has 12 sprinklers. I don't like to be bothered often to take care of my animals.

I don't use sprinklers at all an none of my animals ever died. Even the biggest of islands are not that big to the point where going home every once every 1-2 days to water the plants and maybe catch some z's is a hassle. So long as you have at least 3 grass plots per animal and they are fenced in so they can't fall off you'll be fine.

You don't really need more than 1 of each animal anyway unless you want to build a petting zoo.

You can make headlamps out of dead batteries

Toast, thats a glitch and won't be there forever. I'm sure that coding will be fixed soon enough.
If we could recharge batteries, then what would be the point of copper ore. Just like if bowl were returned after eating soups, clay would be obsolete eventually. Sand is already useless after building a purifier or two. We don't need more resources becoming useless. Just gotta find your "sweet spot" for resource usage. If you build a giant raft then you gotta realise the resource cost is gonna be high to maintain.

I am hoping for a recharge system that uses lets say only 1 copper bar to recharge a battery. That way recharging is cost efficient because you save on the other materials that you would use in order to craft a battery.
Also i am hoping for more stuff to do with batteries in future updates.

It may be a glitch, but I really hope it isn't since the headlamps actually get used up and disappear. Throwing dead batteries overboard when I've been picking up all this plastic seems like a waste.

On some levels though a small recharge station would be neat. Built with a wheel like the paint mill. That way it only worked while you where floating. But to do any other electricity seems a bit silly. At least at this stage of the game.
