Lost the ability to swim!

Hi I am playing in 'peaceful mode', yet I have managed to die a few times. After I died I then pressed 'surrender and respawn'. I lost nothing of equipment but experienced twice that I lost the ability to swim in the sea, I sank like a rock and could not use the shift button to jump back on my raft. This lasted for a while, one time I drowned. Wondering if this was 'punishment' for dying? Or is it a bug in the game? Did other experienced this?

I have played in peaceful and normal mode and never had that trouble.

Have played mostly peaceful and easy haven't experienced any issues swimming or otherwise after dying.

it will do that, - it may be the coincidence of many things, exact location and so on ... But a crazy experience; - thought as I said it might be part of the game! The second time it happened I restarted steam. (It was at Balboa Island, I died trying to pass that poison pool ).
