Raft
Two Sharks on Hard Mode?
I'm not sure if this is a bug or not, but there are two sharks in my play-through on raft. I'm on hard difficulty so I'm not sure if it's a bug or a feature for it. I started out with only one shark but now it's becoming really hard to defend against both sharks as they attack at the same time.

It's intentional. Every time you kill a shark in Hard mode there's a change of multiple sharks spawning. I believe up to 3 can exist any given time. It's been like that for a year now.

UPDATED HARD MODE

Hard mode have gotten a makeover: there's now a chance of multiple sharks spawning when you kill one, and the sharks health has been increased a bit (5 hits instead of 4) for it to go away. The shark will also attack in a more frequent, but random pattern, which should make for more exciting gameplay. We aim for this to be a mode where you should think and calculate the chances you take - before you take them. As always, we appreciate feedback, so yell at us if it's too hard. :) Food and Thirst is also harder to sustain, and all enemies have had their damage increased.

As being said it's a feature, but arguably a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ one. For single player in hardmode there is only one way to deal with it and that is by ignoring bruce early on and letting him chew away on your raft until you can reinforce the foundations. Managing 3 sharks nonestop is very tedious when playing solo.

Singleplayer hardmode isn't fun by any means. Even though I like challenges. I personally hope they will rework hardmode at some point and give it some unique touch for singleplayers.
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, 3 sharks? That's brutal. I'll just play on my normal save then lol Thanks for the info
It had been a while since I last played. I might have to scan some of the patches.

That's why i NEVER kill the shark on hard mode. I just let him take a bite out of the raft. It's not that expensive to rebuild since there's tons of plastic and wood floating all around. Just make sure to not put anything of value close to the edge of the raft as they usually go for the edges (though not always). I actually store all my valuables on the 2nd floor of the raft where Bruce can't get them (just make sure the pillar is supported by at least 2 squares of foundation).

It's only a challenge until you can afford foundation armor. After that the only challenge is your forever unsatisfied craving for yummy shark meat.

there is a way around multi shark problem. What you guys need is to dive AWAY from your raft.
I noticed that sharks eat raft only if you stand on it, and they roam close to raft.
I "park" my raft away from reefs and try to walk over islands before I dive, ideally on other end of the land.
I have all the time in the world, so I make sure to suck each island dry.
bottle and advanced water is my prio for less wasted wood

I've had the shark eat my raft while I was on an island. It's less prone to eating your vessel while you are gone though but it still happens. Bruce must like to look at you while destroying the very thing you are building. He's a real MONSTER!!

I never had it though, it really seems for me that they have that animation that he goes around and surface and go right over the surface to attack. MAYBE he already started the sequence when you were exploring.

That is a possibility. I've also come back to the raft and as I saw it in the distance I watched a seagull land and attack my scarecrow. I was waaay too far off to hit it with an arrow. I used to think the raft and contents were safe when you weren't on board but it's not the case.

I just started a new hard sologame after a over10 month break and after the first kill they popped up ... I was like ... WTF!?!?!? Well, I guess you don't even have to try to defend your raft then? It's impossible with a wooden spear, but that means you need an incredible amount of plastic every time which really slows your progress down a lot. Heavy is good, but atm is just annoying but i guess i will go faster now for iron
