Raft
Confusing problem with the pillars
Building is a very important part of Raft. I especially like to build but...making floors is kind of bad because we need a lot of pillars. basically for every floor tile. Recently i have seen some youtubers where there are like 4 pillars and way more tiles..same on the main menu screen. How can i do that? Any help would be apprichiated!

My problem with pillars is that they can't be placed in the middle of a tile. In order to put the final ceiling tile in my room the pillar had to be placed in an awkward spot.

1 pillar can support 4 floor tiles.

1 pillar can hold 4 foundations in a square. So you can have a pillar every 2 foundations. Doing it that way not only takes up less resources than have a pillar every foundation but also makes it easier to move around & see.

My only issue with pillars is that we can't build symmetrically on a center row, without putting pillars side by side. It's not the end of the world, just a bit annoying.

It would be nice to have a "sturdy pillar" or something to give us a little more floorspace, or even pre-fabricated floor sections.

Also, structures like floor to ceiling walls and doors behave like pillars too.
I think ladders might as well.

Ladders don't, nor do stairs.

It used to be that pillars were put in the middle of a tile and we could place 3x3 floors above them. This had its drawbacks though and they changed it to the current version when raft came to steam.

It's weird - only seems to work with the half tiles, and only after they've already been put up. But once the tile and ladder are in place, whatever the original support was can safely be knocked away.

That's a bug. Can be done in several ways, feel free to break the ladder and the tile will still stay there. Also works will full tiles. Example :

So that's what's going on. Thank you.

That's my kind of bug.
But I guess I'd better pop some pillars up before it gets fixed and my roof comes down.
