Tangaroa cars, really?
I mean... Why would you even bother with cars in a place with max distance 500m?

I hesitate to theorize since that's the job of the writers IMO, but these are clearly 0 emissions vehicles and the people still do look like they need to carry large quantities of stuff from place to place. It's basically just a convenient contrivance that the player can walk around with a piano in their pocket; in reality people would probably want some way to, for example, cart a bunch of produce from the plantation or a bunch of supplies/electronics to or from the office buildings.

Note that Caravan Island also had a bunch of ziplines, probably to act as a delivery system (the Forest-style) or for fast travel between the neighborhoods.

Because lazy. Because they were obviously wealthy.
Because who wants to carry stuff from building to building?
Plus...they are golf carts. Golf carts are used everywhere for things many consider "why bother?"
The biggest answer is laziness coupled with greater haulage capacity.

Why do some security patrols use a Segway when they could just as easily walk?
Because they CAN.

BTW let's also remember that Tangaroa is not a utopia, it's intentionally designed to be a failed arcology and planning your floaty arcology like an old boomtime grid-based city is probably an easy way to atmospherically represent what these people's mindset was.

I didn't think about emissions, but of a use. To carry things, well ok but as you said, theses are golf cart, not even practical to carry things around. It would be interesting to have some insights from the writers.

this is a good explanation

wanna take a crack at explaining why there are truck tyres on the streets of tangaroa?
ULTRA Feb 2, 2021 @ 2:16pm
Lol, that makes no sense however, but let's make an obviously unqualified ad hoc excuse and say they broke the trucks down for parts after their generator failed, then used the tires to build barricades against the rafters and the bots

Or maybe they got nostalgic for mosquito infestations and wanted to pile up a bunch of wet smelly tires for nests

lol It's heavily implied by your title and topic sentence after it, as well as your response in this thread, you don't have to say it. You call out the writers to explain such a feature on the island, enough said. I called you out on it and now you're trying to be technical about wording to back out, an old and tested classic response on the net.
Infield pass Feb 4, 2021 @ 1:23am
I'm not trying to be technical, just wondering why this term and to who it was addressed. I can tell you it's your own interpretation, and by this way, subjective. Don't affirm your understanding of the implicit, since you're not in other's head.
I didn't "call out" the writers. The first response (before being edited) said that it would be interesting to know more on this from the writers, which I simply agreed on.
And yes, if you want to know the "implicit" from the person who wrote it : I do find cars silly in this place. Is this opinion an infraction? It also means that at first glance I'm questioning this choice by the devs. But to extend that to "being inexcusable" is only your interpretation.

If you want to bring the subject of internet topics, question your need to create "dramas" where there is none.

If it is further away than a car's lenght, I use a car.
