My review of Raft

Steam won't let me post a review because my hours are 0 according to STEAM. I'm one of those offline players.

Played for over 12 hours total and I bought this game a few days ago.

Raft is fun, unforgiving, and grindy. I played only on single player thus far. The graphics are way above average for indie games on STEAM, well done. Making a mistake only once is all that is needed to end your journey. However, the consequences for mistakes can sometimes take awhile to play out. Plan ahead.

I had to restart several times until I found a way of doing things that worked, then it was no longer a matter of survival but a grind fest.

On my latest play I survived more than 7 days and was just repeating all my actions. I was purifying sea water into drinking water, cooking fish I caught, growing crops, chasing away seagulls after my melons, collecting sooo much stuff I had to keep building little chests to hold my junk. Repairing the raft from the maniac shark that would never leave me alone. I was beating the game and it was going on forever! I finally got bored and decided to end it. I jumped in the drink. The shark obliged. That was the first time I was killed by the shark. All the other times I died were from starvation.

I liked being able to craft nets that catch resources floating in the ocean. That freed up a lot of time. Just attach them to the raft and collect the resources they capture.

Designing my own raft is fun.

The ocean storms really aren't that dangerous. But during a storm the shark can swim up to you and help itself to one of your drumsticks while your standing on your raft if it dips in the ocean.

It would be nice if there were other marine life besides just the shark on a mission to hunt you down.

Thanks for the review...just started playing it maybe 5-6 hours ago and yeah its definitely a grind here but it'll be interesting to see how it opens up...what kind of items you'll eventually be able to craft.
I haven't died yet though, thank God...I hear you lose all your stuff...screw that.

I'm enjoying it despite thinking it was more of a casual game...something I could play while visiting with the gf, watching a movie or something. Nope...the sheer amount of busy work just feeding yourself is enough to have your eyes continuously glued to the screen, so...although it'd have been nice knowing that going in, I'm still enjoying it.

Side note...really took some getting used to how fast the thirst/hunger meters go down...wasn't sure I was ready to put the effort into maintaining here, but at least the clicks/maneuvers become second nature before long.
