Gotta make new batteries although honestly you don't need that many batteries to operate the reciever anyway. I'm still on my first battery after about 40 in game days of having it. the trick is you want to turn it on to see where you are compared to where the radio tower is located and then turn it off and adjust your sail. I usually check every minute or so with a quick on and off to make sure im still on course. Battery usage is extremely minimal if you just flash it on and off every 30 seconds to a minute to make sure you're heading in the right direction.

Yeah, quickly turning the receiver on and off gives you an idea of where you need to go while barely using the battery. I think I've found 6 or 8 structures by now on just one battery, and could find several more if I'm careful.

Note: Just because you know where it is, you still need to ping the receiver to actually spawn it in while within render distance.

One time while approaching a structure, I was heading straight towards it, and was wondering where it was since I didn't see it. As soon as I turned on the receiver, BOOM the thing spawns practically right in front of me out of thin air!

You can test this yourself if you are good with navigating and timing. Those places just do not exist until observed by a receiver.

I do that as well with the receiver, the problem I have with the batteries is the sprinkler. That uses a lot of batter, so I've stopped using it - easier to just use a bottle than crafting batteries.

Also, if the batteries are not rechargeable, why do we keep the empty ones?

I'm assuming and hoping there could be a solar charger in the future. Maybe battery operated boat motor? Lol. They could expand on an electrical system in a few ways.

Keep the empty batteries, use them for crafting items that need them as an ingredient.

There is a solar panel array mod that you can use to recharge them.

They can be used to craft flashlight helmets. Despite being empty batteries, they still work just as well as fully-charged batteries.

I think they will add a way that uses copper to recharge batteries in chapter 2 otherwise copper is almost useless

As far as I can tell, the upcoming battery charger will use same bio fuel as the engines (there is pipe connection) to recharge the batteries.

More than likely you'll also need to get to Caravan Island to get the blueprint for it.

2 spots for batteries too. I highly approve. Although now i have to bring a pipe 10 floors up to my zoo floor with all the sprinklers ...

As Maverick said, there is currently a solar panel recharge mod. It's a simple panel that takes up no more space than the sail, and it has a small table on which you set the battery to charge. That's it. No elaborate machinery and no needing biofuel or whatever to operate. Doesn't charge at night though. You should check out the Raft mods. You can find some useful ones that make playing more balanced - even if you have to sort through some that are kind of ridiculous.

Ever since the Battery was added I was hoping they would add a recharge unit, water driven like the paint thing :)
