Raft

anyone know how to find out how much foundations your raft has?
For how many engines you would need? as it says 100 but we have a big raft and we don't know how count so is there a way to tell by a interface or Ui or something?.

And for that matter more engines = more speed even if your raft is bigger or?

as were new to the game :P

No, there is no interface/UI that tells you how many foundations you have unfortunately. One way to see if you have enough engines is check if engine(s) stutter instead of turning smoothly. If they stutter, you don't have enough engines.

As for engine speed:

Assuming your raft is more or less a rectangle, LengthxWidth, then subtract any nets (they don't count as foundations) and any inside holes.
Basically you want 1 engine per 100 foundations for regular speed of 2. Adding a higher ratio only increases speed slightly to 2.5.

ah okey thank you for that information and yeah we build a raft thats long and about 18 blocks from left to right ( width ) and 32 from the front of the ship all the way to the back of the ship in ( length ) and its about 2 story's high from front to back and then 3 story's high on the front so that gives you an idea of the shape and how big it is.

We are only of two people playing tougher and this is our first time playing tho we did fail like 8 times on hard but i think the 9th we got to this point now :P

Yeah, you'll need 6 engines for that, which is a ton of fuel. Engines only care about actual foundation pieces, not how much is stacked on top of them, so it's really best to stay smaller and go vertical.
For single player I always keep my foundation under 100 and go up 3 decks.
(Remember to keep track of the original center of your raft as the debris always spawns in relation to it.)

funny you said that i already have a design i made for the raft that has 6 engines on the sides so we plan to do just that.

once our building is done and we add chairs tables all the fun stuff and paint it all our wood will only be really used for engines and i guess crafting at that point and at that point we will be in full dive into story
