Dropping FPS
Hi,

As my raft becomes bigger it seems to cause a serious fps drop. It used to be 40-60 fps, but now its just struggling for 20 fps. My raft is not that gigantic. Even lowering the graphic settings from extreme to fastest wont help much and honestly... I like the graphics so it is not acceptable to lower them so much.

Any tips?

Unfortunately there's not that much beyond shrinking the raft size you can do. There is a mod called BetterFPS you can use to disable raft collision reducing the burden caused by physics calculations but this does mean your raft no longer collides with objects like islands and simply slides thru them. You might also look into upgrading your system if you're able, assuming you're on a desktop. Beyond that there's the hope that devs introduce more optimization to the game at some point. :lunar2020thinkingtiger:

Can you go in game, press 'o' three times to bring up performance statistics and system specifications, take a screenshot of your raft and those statistics on screen and post it here.

Should show the same statistics as screenshot above.

Two things that cause most performance degradation are foundations and lanterns. Foundations put burden on CPU due to physics and lanterns put burden on your GPU.

For lanterns, it's best to keep them at minimum. As for foundations, you can try to build tall (up) instead of wide, keeping number of foundations used at minimum.

How many foundations does your does your raft approximately have?

Thank you. Its around 600 foundations. Built a shiplike form. Would be a shame if I had to destroy most of my raft. Would have to relocate my pets as well...

I only have a few lamps, nothing much, maybe 8.

Thank you for your help!

It seems if I wait a couple of minutes the fps go up to 40. But I guess Ill either downgrade my raft, wait till they optimize the game and until there is more content oooor I upgrade my hardware :/

Sorry for not being able to provide more help. :wftosad: Hopefully the developers can improve the performance in future updates. *knocks on wood*

All is good, you showed me sth new, thx and thx for helping :)
A lot of people got some issues, so I think they will improve the performance in the near future.
