Really enjoying the game so far! As for my current problems and questions... (Spoilers)
My first roadblock to where I absolutely had to look online to understand a mechanic is knowing how high to set my antenna up. Upon turning on the receiver, the message I got was too vague: "Requires Higher Altitude". I spent so much time trying different heights with my antenna, until I found out it had to be the receiver that needed height. I would have loved a clearer description on that.

Now after getting on my first large island, I was a bit annoyed finding out that I didn't get any loot after killing a goat and a dodo, especially for the time and effort it took to chase them down with a spear. Is there really no value in them? Or is that section of the game a work on in progress and new?

And as for the Net Launcher, I first crafted a Collection Net thinking it was the ammo it required. I don't think I have the blueprint for the ammo if there is one, but a better description that a specific type of net is needed for it would have helped with first impressions.

I'm really looking forward to where this game will go, and the replay value is quite high for how there's a large variety of islands, and hope to see more!

The goat, dodo and Llama are pets.

You catch the animals with the net launcher gun. You need to take the goo from blowfish and put it in the forges for explosive powder to make the ammo for it. You also need dirt plots for them to live on. You water the dirt plots either via a sprinkler or by hand.

Dodo/turkey things produce eggs for healing salves and cooking recipes, Llama give wool, goats can be milked.

If animals aren't aggressive, don't kill them there isn't anything to gain. Non-aggressive animals can be captured via the net launcher and domesticated.

Thanks for the info! I find it somewhat stupid how an animal having the capability of being a pet is what dictates whether its meat can be eaten. One would expect bird meat to drop, similar to that of the seagull, upon killing the dodo. Hope they eventually change that.

As for the Net Launcher ammo, thanks! Will do that--.

Did the same mistake. I chased a goat and cut it down just to watch it rag doll on the ground with eyes open and no loot. Lesson learnt at the cost of a spear.

LOL you actually killed them. I didn't know it was possible. I tried with a bow and some stonearrows, on one of my first plays, but didn't kill any, looked them up on internet and found out they were pets. I assumed they were unkillable.

Now let's wait for someone who tries to catch bears with the netlauncher.
