You can't expect developers to cater to a resolution that low.
1920x1080 is pretty much the standard, though many of us have been gaming in 1440p or 2160p for years now.
1280x1024... I honestly haven't even seen (let alone used) a display with that few pixels since... I want to say 2005'ish.
1. Launch game
2. Settings
3. Graphics
4. Change resolution to something else e.g. 1280x960
