My metal detector doesn't work

I just had the metal detector. Unluckily, the light aren't showing up, it's like if it was off but I did the left click so it's supposed to work. What to do ?

It will only light up when there is something to detect. It has a decent range on it. Once all 3 green lights light up, then you can start digging.
I had the same issue but it turns out I was no where near any treasure.

Especially on large islands, you have to move around and try repeatedly. If there's no red lights, there's no metal. Typically one good dig site on small and medium islands, two on the large ones.

Silly question, but are you holding down your LMB? It's not a click and on, but a click and hold to work. Are you hearing a low almost static type sound? If so, it's working and you're just not near anything to dig up yet. (If not, try saving and restarting your game.)

Couple of quick notes, the radius on them isn't to just the level that you're on... I had mine go to three green lights with the faster beeping and just could not find the spot to make them all light up, then I noticed I had a ledge area above me (I was on Caravan Island), went up there and that's where it was. - I also had one that lead me into one of the old homes, I thought "there's no way it's in the floor?", it wasn't, I had to dig the side of the hill at the window and out it came. o.O

So yeah, thank you for the response.... I keep holding the LMB and nothing is happening, not even a sound, no ed lights like... Really nothing. I did all Caravan Town with the M.D. but it didn't worked so.... I really don't know. /:

try a small island, they always have 1 dig spot and are small enough that you will always get a light.

Small islands are the best for farming with metal detector. Just coming from personal experience, the large islands can turn into a pain real quick.

I have the same problem. I finish Caravan island and built a metal detector no beeps or light. I thought I made it wrong so I restarted my game and created a new one but still doesn't work. I don't know what to do as well.

try dropping it and picking it back up.
maybe youre somewhere where nothing is?(rare).
hit it with a hammer?
