subnautica the forest green hell etc all great survival games that also have stories
even minecraft has a story stories dont ruin survival games
Sorry for making this confusing. What I really mean is this game focus too heavy on story rather than making it's creativity and exploring become more diverse. What I has seen for recent update is either fix bug or bunch of story line that force people to grind and spend too much time it that it may cause them to loose interest in the bland crafting game at basic.
Survival games could be viewed in a couple of ways & have influence to play outcome. Surviving with the intention of completing a goal/story or just continued surviving non stop. The former appears to suit you and the later personally suits me.
Well, what are we doing now in this system of things? Are we not surviving as much the same?? Do we not get bored? Do we not look for purpose?
Whatever the answers, we just have to get on with it, don't we??
Back to what you say they all reach this point eventually playing endlessly. However they can become games which you can/will come back to now and again. I do this with The Forest. I occasionally go back & pick up where I left off has I'm sure others do too with certain games. The Raft will follow exactly the same path.
That's where you are wrong. The main purpose of a SURVIVAL & CRAFTING game is its creativity and diversity from its basic mechanism. The moment a survivor & crafting game put story line in it or finish story line is when they have absolutely known that there's no diversity or creativity that they can squeeze out of the game anymore. Which mean, the time for that game is done, it can be removed now. Story line and such is just something to squeeze some more money before the game is dead completely.
For Raft, survivor mechanism is bland and crafting mechanism is bad. The ideal of the game is good but at the moment right now, I think they just give up. They feel too lazy to think of new mechanism and just try to shove bunch of ridiculous story that does not have impact on the game.
It's not bad to put story line in a survival crafting game but it's something that driven player from CRAFTING and use their CREATIVITY. Give them a purposes, they finish it and leave. Story in a survival crafting game equal death sentence to it. Exactly like you said "Once the ending for Raft is implemented and I've reached it (and I've seen all the content I want to see), I'll probably move on to next survival game." You just want to take what you want and leave. You don't get the excitement from "What should I do? What new thing should I become today?".
Personally i look at this game as something to play while i watch a TV series or listen to a podcast after work. In it current incarnation the game is really great. And based on the steam reviews 93% of the people that reviewed it in the last 30 days have a very positive opinion on the game and 90% overall. This is a pretty high rating, and speaks by itself.
If this game does not suit you - find another, it is that simple.
Alright then Mr.Grumpy Cat. Here's also a simple thing for you. This is the discussion forum. If you don't wanna discuss, you are free to ignore me. Please get down from your high horse, sir. No need to act all high and mighty with your number.
And every time said person(in this case you) blows his anger over multiple threads over weeks.
Don't be like that, if you don't like the game don't play it.
I will even waste time to point out the inconsistencies of YOUR arguments above.
The game asks you to follow the story so much as to obtain blueprints, other than that you can play whatever way you want - that is the survival mode.
You want further creativity - sure there is creative mode for that.
There are further 3 difficulties for people that think the game is too hard or too easy in normal mode.
The story is a "vehicle" to present the game content to the new players in a manner that will not overwhelm them. On top of that the story locations are unique, fun to explore and getting bigger and more interesting with every ne story location.
