Can you build a new raft?
Just bought the game, and after fishing some wood etc, I found an island, so I gone there. But my raft kept its own way, and is now gone for good XD

Cant find how to build a new raft, only upgrades to it, so must I restart?

Scout the edges of the Island sometimes you can see it adrift. However with no raft your stranded there cus its not replaceable. Build an anchor next time.

Yep, kinda interesting, after a few minutes stranded there, the island disappeared, and I obviously died to sharks

Started a new game and the raft auto parked in a similar island, so I could farm it without hurries :P

Ya. that sucks. A shark ate my raft while I was figuring the game out, now I can't build a new one, even though crafting shows I can build a 'foundation'.

I agree completely. However it's been explained that the games important mechanics revolve around the existence of the raft, even with just only one foundation. In essence if there ain't no raft, there's literally no game to play.

Ya, so they either shouldn't let the raft be destroyed, or allow making another.

If your Raft floats away, you do have the option to kill yourself, assuming you aren't on hard mode. You'll lose your inventory, but you'll respawn on your ship. The raft itself is literally the center of the game. The shark follows it, not you. Debris, islands, and other rafts spawns ahead of its movement. It really feels like just a lazy way of handling things. There is absolutely no reason that your entire game should be tied to the 4 foundations you start with.

My raft got eaten by the shark while I was figuring out how to equip the spear.

Well devs could make the shark ignore the last tile but honestly if you're down to last tile you're probably better off starting a new game anyway.

Why, when I could just repair? It still IS the start of the game after a half hour of grabbing stuff I could use to repair the raft.
depending on the setting, you will have to either take the losses or you can drown yourself.

I think on easy setting you keep your inventory, I may be wrong thou

Not necessarily. Personally I would find it a challenge to rebuild which could in some ways be similar to a new game.

I believe games like these should have more ways to keep players alive & going. IDK how exactly but bad effects should be countered by good & visa versa.

I feel that this is the trick which needs mastering to creating a good survival game.

Because your raft should be expanding from the start despite shark taking a bite every now and then. Expanding the raft is one of the first priorities you have. If you have been grabbing stuff for half an hour why haven't you placed any new foundations? :lunar2020thinkingtiger:

First thing I've always done is to expand raft to at least 3x3 so I can place water purifier or grill in the middle so shark does not eat the foundation under it. Then 3x4 to fit the other one.

The bad news is that if your raft is completely destroyed that there's no way to build a new one.

The good news is this can only happen within the first few minutes of gameplay, so literally just start over and be back to where you were by the time you finish reading this post.

Because on this first play I had no idea how. Still don't quite know for that matter.
