Getting to Relay Station 6 on Balboa Island

Hey, all!

We research the matchete and we crafted a few of them. We went to the cave that was blocked by the vines and cut them with the matchete. Great! However, as we went deeper into the cave, there is another set of vines blocking our path. When we hover the mouse over them, we get a matchete symbol -- meaning, I assume, that we need to use the matchete. We bashed the vines with the matchete until the matchete broke, but it had no effect on the vines. So, we're kinda stuck.

Do you know how to make it past this second set of vines?

Our Raft version is Update 12 (5655479).

I seem to recall running into this in the past, too. I'm trying to recall if it was a bug (save/exit/reload) or due to a quest step being missed. The vines should not take more than 1-3 hits and should NOT be breaking the machete.

Update: Checked my notes and I'd listed "distract bear" for the date I ran into the problem.
Sorry, but I can't recall if that was specifically it or not. I'd recommend save/exit/reload/retry first and, if like me you hadn't actually distracted "Mama Bear", try that next and see if you can proceed. Sorry I didn't have more specifics on how I got past that. :(

Thank you for looking this up! We have already killed Mama Bear as we're trying to cut the second set of vines.

I really hope we didn't wedge the game by killing Mama Bear before breaking all the vines 😕

I killed Mama Bear as soon as I came to the island and had no issues few days ago. I don't see how those two could even be connected. Possibly some sort of desync issue? Have host tried cutting the wines? Have you restarted the game and tried again?

That's a good idea. We'll give the matchete to the host next and have him try cutting the vines. We also backed up the game at the point where we had just arrived at the island so we can also try doing the whole quest again, if needed.

I just visited tower 6, no problem, with the help of a machete I cut through all the obstacles.

We tried giving the machete to the host, but he couldn't break the vines either. It looks like we're completely stuck, because there is no way to move the story forward
