Raft

Hit a rock, got spun around. How do I get my nets facing the right way again? :(
I guess I got too close to an island, and hit a rock. My raft spun 90 degrees to one side, and now all of my junk catcher nets are facing almost exactly the wrong way. How can I fix this? Or do I need to pull them all up and try to rebuild them on the new "front" of the raft? The paddle doesn't turn the raft, and neither does the sail now that I've actually gotten it to turn instead of just opening and closing. Building all the nets was a lot of resources, I'm not looking forward to building them again.

The direction they face doesn't actually matter. They will collect items no matter what, thankfully.

Right, but before they were in a line at right angles to the direction I was going. The whole front of my raft was a trash catcher. When I got spun, they're all in a line in the direction I'm going now. Instead of being ten blocks wide, my net is basically ONE block wide.

I want to swing the raft back so that they're broadside to the direction I'm moving.

Build a paddle - rotate your raft.

How does using a paddle rotate the raft? I've been using one to steer towards the abandoned rafts, and it just drags the whole thing in the direction I'm facing. It doesn't rotate at all, even when I'm standing on a corner. Unless there's some other secret trick to doing so? Because left click seems to be just "go that way. Very slowly."

Paddle doesn't seem to turn raft, unless you paddle against an island. For now, I suggest you place a net every other square down two neighboring sides of the raft( nets can be picked up; foundations can be broken with axe). This will catch most stuff, as you will rarely be going exactly straight. Later you'll get the means to turn, and can move all the nets to one side.

The only way to turn your raft before you get the ability to do it otherwise, is to hit an island or a raft, which will turn you around again. You can use the paddle to force yourself against either until you're facing the right direction.

As for the nets, they will collect regardless of direction, however, you can also remove them and put them on a different side if you prefer.

This happened to me as well. New to the game and I have built my raft with a front, middle and back. Now everything is sideways. :steamhappy::
So you are saying at some point in the game we will get the ability to rotate the raft?

Yes, you can get blueprints for steering wheel from second story location, Vasagatan. You need to build 3 antennae and the receiver in order to receive code for the first story location.
