Raft

Dying breaks game progression.
More specifically, loosing all your stuff on death, breaks progression. Being unable to leave balboa island, loosing all my bees, mean no biofuel.. and engines just don't work long enough on wood to make it viable.

So dying once, loosing everything, essentially ends the game.

It literally forces you to use mods to cheat in items.. just to continue.

This seems to be an issue only for a fraction of Raft players as most of us have figured out how to make it work or play on a different setting.
It is a mechanic the devs aren't likely to change as it's been this way since the start.
I'd suggest trying different tactics such as stockpiling materials, making "extras" and storing them, and learning how to avoid trouble areas.
The idea is to make you adapt to a difficult situation in order to survive.
You can always play on easy or peaceful or creative mode in which you lose nothing.
It's your choice to play on the difficulty where you lose things.

Dying and losing things got me into the habit of unloading my pockets except for essentials before going onto a dangerous island and making duplicates of gear stored on the raft in case i do die. If you're about to take a risk, you should plan for it.

Yeh all true, but the fact remains, dying on balboa.. is pretty much game over. Now, fortunately, I landed on the windward side.. so I drifted, without engines away from the island and was able to collect drift to replace my stuff, whilst watching Mr Sharky eat my raft slowly.. until I got a spear..

The problem is, now I cannot find any bees.. nor islands with them nor do they respawn on balboa.. the bears respawn.. like the rats, but the bees do not.

They might as well just remove death and put "Quit or Restart"

There are Balboa like Large islands that contain bees.
Martin Jun 3, 2020 @ 6:35pm
Not that I can find, just alot of empty islands that i've already been to. The game should recycle old islands once you move out of range.

Collect your stuff when you die, or plan ahead. if you lose biofuel/bees, use planks for the engines. And if all else fails, restart with a new raft.

The islands do "reset" after a certain distance. You simply haven't gone far enough. Islands are generated randomly, drawing from pre-made island templates. It's completely random what you will get. That's why there's no map of the Raft world. It constantly changes. And yes, sometimes you will go HOURS before finding what you are looking for.

Must be a pretty huge area for it to eventually reset. I've gone days downwind and days upwind and only found empty islands.

This is not True, me and my friend Greg both died on Balboa Island. We then went back out to sea, refarmed the ocean for supplies, then returned and complete the game.

I died on balboa twice and it was far from "game over" for me. My raft is armored so there was no shark to worry about, and I always have duplicates tools in a chest on board in case i die and lose stuff. You just need to prepare better.

Also I'm fairly sure the bees do respawn. I go back to balboa periodically in order to farm bees. Also... You realize you can just use planks in the engines if you run out of fuel, right?

I guess I didn't die on Balboa island so I don't know the exact issue. I do know that if you keep travelling in one direction the coordinates will reset to a much lower number. It's how I had to get to the yacht before I had the wheel. The first time I just could not drift to the ship. Traveled in one direction, watched the coords go up until they dropped below what I needed and drifted right to it.

The point here being perhaps when you reset the coords, the areas do as well. I'm hoping someone who has payed attention could elaborate. Also, I have played on all settings and I can def recommend the game. Love it love it love it, cannot wait for chapter 2.

Yeh using planks is slow going. I didn't know the bees respawned, I'll check on that, been a few days since I left. I'll go back and look. But they certainly don't respawn like the bears do.. kill one, leave area to get tower, come back and it's there again.

I've been travelling away from balboa, been to 5 large islands so far killed 4 screechers, got lama, goat and clucker.. but not seen a single bee.

Ok first, its a game, mate. Please remember to be civil in these discussions. The sarcasm in response to the Balboa comment wasn't necessary. And plenty of people have managed to make it work on Balboa, even after dying. I play solo a lot and I've had the same success. I'm sorry you're having difficulty, but the fact of the matter is we are trying to let you know it IS possible to make it work. Just gotta be creative and patient. That's no reason to get snide with us.
Bees are only to be found on temperate islands, not tropical ones. If you see palm trees, no bees. Pine trees, you will find bees.
And yes, after a few game days of being far enough away from Balboa so that it "de-spawns" in the map, the resources will return. I'm not sure of the exact number, but it's more than a week of in-game time.

Lolz Rio....Palm trees, no bees
Pine trees, find bees
Love it
