Raft
Suddenly in the middle of the ocean floating in nothingness?
I got to my first teeny island and started walking into the water and suddenly I was in the middle of the ocean floating with nothing around me. It was terrifying. Is this is a known bug? Am I just special!?

Did you anchor your raft? World only exist certain radius around your raft. If raft moves far enough away from things, they will despawn, including but not limited to island you might be standing on and as island no longer exists you'll end in water. To prevent this, always anchor your raft in place when leaving your raft for any reason.

This is doubly important as the raft you start with is the only one you will ever have. You can't build a new one, only expand the raft you start with. If it's destroyed, it's game over and time to start a new game.

Thanks! I didn't realize you couldn't build another, so this totally makes sense! I did not anchor my raft. Thank you!

You can make disposable (single use) anchor from the start and later install permanent stationary anchor. Island resources aren't that useful at the very beginning (there are resources you can't make use of until later) as you can collect everything you need early on from the sea. Once you have enlarged your raft a bit and have grill, water purifier, sail and some storage setup, you can start looking for islands to explore. Don't worry about islands you may pass by. There's always more beyond the horizon.

Good luck and have fun!

I had the same bug. Suddenly there was nothing to farm arround. Only a reset and a new World solved the Problem....
:-(

As Anonymous Helper said above, it was because I didn't stay near my raft. Maybe you had a different issue, but for me it was definitely what Anonymous Helper said it was. Haven't had the issue again.

After leaving an island I anchored on, I didn't see any resources being spawned. I didn't set foot on any island after that and floated for some 10-ish minutes, but still no resources appeared. Is this a glitch?

You don't need an anchor. simply find an inlet or nook on the shore where the current is pushing you against. You can use the sail to assist in this. Jump off and explore away. Keep an eye on your raft to make sure it doesn't get dislodged and float away. Oh, and save game when you feel raft is secure before venturing off JIC.

This might help:

No items are showing up in the water for me?

Make sure you are not sailing against the wind and that you do not have an anchor down. If items are still not spawning, you can simply restart the game and it should start spawning again.

That does have two problems though. You could get your raft stuck or raft might get turned around so "front" is no longer directly to the way raft is floating so your nets are no longer placed optimally. The latter is difficult to fix before you get the Steering Wheel from Vasagatan.
