For anyone interested, I made a template for the PS4 controller.
steam://controllerconfig/648800/2343610895
Nice, thanks.
Thank you very much !
Maybe you ever heared of a software called joytokey or xpadder : these softwares emulate a keyboard and a mouse with any controller, you can assign any keyboard button to any of your gamepad button, such as "when I press A on my gamepad, it's as if I was playing the letter S on my keyboard.
Using third party softwares is not always very user friendly. Here come the good news. Steam already has a built-in functionality that allows you to do the very same thing ! You can configurate your controllers the way you want, very precisely. Even better, you can share your configurations online and other people might be able to use it without downloading anything !
// If you're playing on BigPicture, you have to go on your library, select the Raft game, go to 'manage game" (under "your game"), and controller configuration.
// If you're using the standard Steam, just go in your library, select your game, and you'll see the controller configuration available near the up of the page.
You're in front of a new window in which you can configurate your controller as you wish for this game, emulate a keyboard, emulate a mouse, adjust the joystick sensitivity, etc.

From there, press the X button on your keyboard (as noticed at the bottom of the screen, it will browse the configs available for this game. Standard configs or, even better, configs uploaded by the community. Select "community", and then select the config you like. I chose the first one on the list, called "Raft Xbox One/360 controller", which has a recent playtime of 493,768 hours. Select this one (or another), and a new screen will appear in which you can see how this configuration works, what it does, etc. Press X again to apply this configuration. From now one, when you'll start the game, your gamepad will not act as a gamepad but as a keyboard and a mouse. Which means the game will not tell you "press xbox buttons to do such action" but will show you keyboard touchs instead. You can look at the configuration whenever you want, by pressing the Microsoft button at the center of your gamepad if you're on bigpicture, or by pressing shift+tab on your keyboard if you're in standard mode, so you can check which of your buttons does what.
In this configuration I chose, the right stick emulates a mouse, the right trigger emulates a left click and the left trigger emulates a right trick. The rest of the actions are all doable through the A B X Y buttons, the dpad and the other triggers ; it is far from perfect when navigating through the menus but hey, it's perfectly playable. I have a couple of hours of gameplay with it, it was a little difficult at first but I got it quite quickly. The only complain I have is when I have to look at the lists of items and craftables ; but again, you can tweak the configuration the way you want and adjust its sensibility.
If you're not using a qwerty keyboard, you might encounter some problems : the configuration will have problems with the zqsd or the wasd buttons, for example. Your character might move right and left perfectly but might be unable to move forward or left, as Steam does not recognize the right button ; this is all because the configuration was created by a qwerty keyboard owner. You have multiple solutions if you encounter any such problem :
1) edit the configuration yourself through the controller configuration.
2) search for another configuration among those available in the community list, which may suit your hardware.
3) switch your keyboard to qwerty when you launch this game. Your keyboard might be able to behave as a qwerty one, which would resolve such problems instantly.
Please apologize my english. If I'm not clear enough, here are some links that may help you :

Be assured that the manipulation is VERY QUICK and VERY EASY to do.
🎮🎮If Conan Exiles, ARK etc can do it, Im pretty sure Raft can. 🎮🎮
A VERY valid reason for alternative play styles.
Whether the reason is, "its not enjoyable." Or the extremely compelling nature of a condition, that is eased.
It just goes to show that controller support, would be appreciated by so many.
