ok but stuff shouldn't despawn if its out of the raft range.

I am pretty sure everything is generated around the raft, I am surprised Bruce stayed close enough to get you after the raft went so far away...

The reason it disappeared was because it was too far away from your raft , it's like it's out of render distance but the raft is the center of that , not the player

This has happened to me, save and reload. You'll be back on your raft. But yeah, don't get too far from it. If you're doing multiplayer one of you should go under and collect the stones for a throwable anchor and axe. Hopefully you have enough for a paddle.

Why not?

The raft is the center of the universe in this game, so when out of range, everything dissapears.

The reason why it despawns is because Redbeet didn't think somebody would stray that far from their raft

How big of a world should they (Redbeet) allow? Then we can listen to players say that they cannot play the game due to the system requirements being way to high for such a game. All, just to allow someone to swim away from their raft.

I believe the solution is more tweaks & adjustments to the gameplay mechanics, to allow players to collect more items (maybe based on gameplay levels??). Or to allow some of the "beginning" items to be made much sooner, & with less resources. Such as the early anchor, & some other tools.

Also the addition of some kind of 'drag' anchor - maybe made from rope & a bucket. This could be deployed behind the raft, & would slow down its rate of travel, allowing us more time to gather the items as they pass by.

every thing is well balanced just use your brain and it works great.
if the wind is pushing your raft and you get off it without flippers an anchor !
what ?
so you expect the raft to stop !!
stop wining, the game is well thought out.

Everything renders around the Raft, it is effectively the center of the world. Next time build yourself an Anchor to keep the raft from drifting away

on reflection , the whinge is a good one as, if you decided to jump on an island, to explore, then, it would be hard to resist, if you had a hammer and enough plastic and wood to just make a new one, raft that is.
Especially with only .3 hours of game play you wouldn't be used to the do's and don't do's in the game.
Seems fair to just jump on the island as he did and start afresh so ??? perhaps this needs looking into.

You can get away with parking a raft at an island without an anchor, but you have to park it in the right place, otherwise it will be blown / drift away. I have managed to do it before, when the wind was pushing me towards the island, I managed to 'park' in a place that ensured it didn't move. Might require some paddling, (a paddle isn't too difficult to make - 4 Planks, 6 Plastic, 2 Rope) for you to manoeuvre your raft into a safe spot. I've often found just grabbing barrels can give me enough stones to make my first anchor as well.

You can create an anchor without an anchor

Either get the raft to be pushed up against an island so it won't move , this isn't always usable because the water might push it forward so it'll go around the island and sail off

You can also create a sail and have it going against the wind , this won't stop it completely but it will slow it down enough to the point where you'll have enough time to scavenge the island for resources

You can't build a new raft , you can only add to it , destroy parts of it and repair it , so if it's far away you can't build another , instead you have to swim all the way to it and not get killed by Bruce , or die and respawn at your raft

If you have any type of anchor then you can deploy it and then you can collect the items , and once you've collected what you wanted then take it back up , if it's a throwable anchor then you'll just have to make a new one
