I'm not parked at all,, i'm moving in the open ocean and for the most part the only thing around me is debris.
So far i haven't had any trouble with the lanterns placed that work, and i've rebooted the game a couple of times. Getting them to work is the tricky part, but once they are, they'll stay lit at night until you move or destroy them.
but while building and tearing, observe at certain points,
breaking a certain pole or wall within the radius of the positioned lamp,
may show signs of sudden brightness or dimmings.
Could experiment on your part,
breaking certain walls or pole or chests/ objects placed are overlapping.
I'll play around a little and see if it affects my lanterns too.
