Skin colour changing

Is it possible to change the characters skin colour? Any skin mods or something? I'm trying to decide if this game is good for my son or not.

I'm originally from Sudan and I think that the game makes black people look poor. Building rafts and sailing to Europe or somewhere with them.

it's just a game tho, you wouldn't have much if the entire world flooded and you had to survive on a small raft with only a hook.

In this game Europe doesn't exist.
Long Sun exposure makes one skin darker.

WOW.... Hate to break it to you but some black people are poor and so are people of other races.

Back to the original topic though, I believe there's two different options for profiles, but no, there is no option to change their skin color. Keep in mind that in first person view, the default view, the hand of your chosen character model rarely shows up. Furthermore, the color of these models has no bearing on gameplay at all.

As this discussion is veering dangerously close to a topic forbidden by Steam's Discussions Rules and Guidelines, I'm locking it down.

But to answer the OP's question, no there is currently no character customization in game. You get to pick from 2 character models, Maya (tanned female) and Rouhi (tanned male). If those are insufficient for you, I suggest you wait and see if more models or actual character customization option is added to the game at some point during the course of the development.

As for mods, I'm not aware of any that make changes to the character models at the moment.
