Engine problem biofuel vs planks, downgrading
My engine used to run on planks. It worked fine, took me to Balboa Island etc. I converted to biofuel which sucked, because the fuel is expensive to generate. Planks are way better.

So I removed my biofuel components and now the engine accepts planks again. But it does not run properly - it only "nudges" forward (or backward) not really turning the wheel.

When I try to aim to an island, if I go forward, the distance will grow! So the engine is broken?? Btw, tested backwards also, the distance grows that way as well.

Anyone else tried to downgrade the engine back to plank fuel, is the bio fuel change permanent?

Thanks!

Your size of raft is too large to run solely on that one engine, with mere plank.

Reduce foundation size, build another engine or seek more honey.

'Distance grow', Pick up the steering wheel and keep it, if arent skilled at it.
Learn more about the Sail and Streamer, since the wind is taking you away, as your engine lacks momentum.

'Permanent', Remove the pipe or simply pick up the engine.

That is NOT correct. Fuel source is irrelevant, only raft size matters in my experience.

@ OP, any chance you have an engine that is rowing backwards or maybe you expanded your raft a bit more ?

Thanks for the tips! I guess it is just that my raft is gotten too big - I'll check if second engine helps

Second engine sure did the trick - even with planks! ... now how about four engines!! :)
Engines can only push 100 blocks/grids/whatever you build per engine. My raft doesn't seem big but it's two stories and requires THREE of the damn engines lol.

Adding more engines will NOT increase speed. Engines have 3 ways of working when switched on.
1) "stuttering" - when you have 10 more foundation than the corresponding number of engines required (Example you ahve 111 foundations with 1 engine, or 211 with 2 engines)
2) "half-speed" - when you have around the correct number plus(or minus this part has not been confirmed) than the corresponding number of engines required (Example 105 for 1 engine, or 205 for 2 engines)
3) "full-speed" - when you have more than corresponding number of engines required.

How high the raft is is irrelevant, only foundations matter for the number of engines.
