I also advise to build vertically initially, that way you will need less armoring up to do. Once you have enough resources then expand foundations and armor up and the same time.
If not, yes, I thought of just putting down bait while I scavenge.
If the raft isn't fully protected and stationary.
Build some bait foundations protruding outwards.
Throw a bait, hit it a few times as it attempts to chew it, if u fancy or even kill it.
or
Throw a bait while its not looking, jump onto the shallows, trek away from raft against the rocks or island edge,
dive and enjoy more time.
If it comes, hop out of water onto rock, wait for it to swim back to your raft.
Always smarter to dive away from raft.
- almost as soon as I return from a long expedition, the shark goes right for the raft as though it's been waiting - every single time.
- sometimes after I return, I'll happen across a few foundations that are damaged but not destroyed. I'm usually well out to sea before I notice, so I suppose it could have happened while I was doing stuff at the other end of the raft - I don't always hear the shark, but it's also possible it happened while I was away on land.
So maybe it does attack while we're gone, maybe it doesn't, but I behave like it doesn't, and it hasn't been an issue.
