How to get better FPS?

Even with everything set to "Fast", my fps is around 40 or so (yeah, I know, bad pc). How can I make it better without just changing everything to worst? Is there something that eats up the biggest amount of FPS?

If you have many torches,bird nests or crop pots those take most amount of FPS. Also if your game have been running long enough the FPS will starts to drop.

With ultralow settings and three-story raft I have max 40 fps and when this game just now loaded. After 5-10 min of playing FPS is around 15-20. When I playing The Forest I have STABLE 40 fps with ultralow settings, but The Forest has a large forest and a lot of grass.
You can try to remove everything what you don't need from the raft.

It Give a Way to have Permanent smooth FPS even with "Exellent" Grafic Options. If you are fine with that your Raft have no Collision with Islands or something else, then Check this out ;)

It will fix you FPS drops extreme. And the Devs know about the Problem and work on it :)

Keeping your raft under a certain size will help lower the physics processing load. When your CPU is taxed, it pretty much stops being a graphics issue.

It is very tempting to keep building bigger and bigger, but the game isn't setup to handle really large rafts just yet. Even in Creative Mode, there is a limit, albeit a much higher one since a lot of the physics processing is stripped out.

one of the best performance mods for Kerbal Space Program is part welding.. Wonder if something similar would work here as well? It "welds" parts together while in game (then you have to restart game to load the new part it made).. Imagine a 2x2 sized foundation block -- you could make the same sized raft using only 1/4 the number of foundation blocks then.. ceiling, walls, etc.. the idea being to reduce object count by using bigger objects

Sounds like it was the physics processing that was the issue the whole time. How big of a raft do you have?

You might be able to use higher graphics setting without much of an issue, unless you are using onboard/integrated graphics on the main board.

If you have your shadow setting set on zero you could get a better fps.
