Bird nest
So me and my friend built a birdnest for a long time now, yet there are no birds that we've encountered settling in the nest. I've tried putting it as far away, uninterrupted, as i can but there are still no birds laying eggs there

Is this a bug or do i need to wait further

Distance is key. You have to be so far away for the birds to come to the nest. Put it up high away from where you walk.

Lmao i put a nest on my roof, instead of going to the nest the bird went straight for my plant thats next to my bed :Sadclot:

I did try putting the nest as far away as possible, for me its probably around 50 feet from my base and i rarely check it

Yeah i have been trying to crack this bird nesting pattern for quite some time. This is what iv been able to glean so far:

1. When a bird spawns, it is assigned a target - plant/SC or nest. Target doesnt change until bird dies or despawns.

2. After its interaction with the target is completed/interrupted, it flies up and circles overhead in a holding pattern

3. From this holding pattern there is a chance it will fly away (despawn) or re-interact with target. Nest birds have higher chance of despawn.

4. Target preference - SC>plants>nest. Uncovered targets > targets under roof

5. I get the most amount of eggs when my number of nest outnumber my total of plants and birds by about 3x

I assume it is because birds are randomly assigned a target on spawning and given the lower preference for nests, you need way more nests than plants/sc

Disclaimer: all this is derived from my interpretation of a few tests I ran. For all we know I could be wrong on every count!

Ah, that might explains it. Since our base consists of very much a plentiful supplies of plants and crops. Will try this out, thanks

As of the large island patch birds in nests no longer spawn eggs and chickens will give these instead.
