Hunger and Thirst is unreasonable
We're playing a game on normal and spending more time drinking and eating than we are focusing on the ship. Is there a way to tweak that?

When you get the advacned purifier and cooker then your problems will be solved.

The advanced cooker can cook the large fish which will fill your hunger with one fish and can also cook 3-4 smaller fish at the same time.

The advanced water purifier can purify 4 cups of water at a time, you can fully fill your thirst quickly.

Starting out it is a bit harder which is normal, you have to find a way to survive. Mid ot late game it is a non issue with the advanced equipment.

its the best food in the game IMO based on ease of gathering.
I'm on normal and a egg is only slightly worse than shark meat. So maybe 1/3 hunger.
But as the OP said. It's busy work. Would rather spend more time building and starting the ship than spending the first few hours sucking down a basket of mangos, 4 watermelons, 8 coconuts and a seagull that didn't see me coming every game day. The food scaling is horrible. If nothing else, the intro veggies should fill the bar more.

This is a common mistake devs do with survival games that have accelerated time. They try to simulate "normal" calorie and h2o intake in an abnormal time frame which leads to people getting annoyed by having to eat and drink every 8 seconds.

Play on easy if you want to have fun and are above the age of 14 which is when you should have stopped caring about bragging rights in games.

Advanced water purifier and seagull nests / eggs make *all* the difference. Completely takes food / water off the table ...if you pardon the pun :)

Thats not a pun.

This is no pun, it´s offtopic..
This thread is not about which cooker or purifier we should use, it´s about the hunger and thirst drop, which is way to excessive.

I play on normal but don't really have a problem with food or water. Granted I already made the advanced equipment, but, even early game these weren't unfair.

We're playing in a universe with an accelerated time frame, burning calories and loosing water is gonna happen much faster. One cup of water is not going to solve all your problems, same as with a fish.

Now if you want to have so your character cycles his/her diet to real life, fine. But then you have to cycle everything, such as: day and night cycles to match real life twenty-four hours, real time weeks and months it would likely take to travel between some island, chances of sinking your raft at sea during a storm, the likely hood that if a shark is genuinely trying to kill you-and not perform a taste test to check if you're a seal or not-it isn't going to let go and work dragging you beneath the water while sawing off your limbs, heat stroke as well as potential skin cancer, hallucination, reduction of bodily functions if you fail to keep proper nutrients, food poisoning, parasites, decomposition and rot, rust, the chances of the fish not biting for days on end, and a slew of other things that may or may not make the game fun.

Plus, it is a survival genre, keep good health so that you survive is also very important if not the most important detail and comes before building your floating mansion.

keep bringing up raw egg but it clearly needs a nerf..
tooltip on it says "good for cooking" , *can't be cooked*, but eat it raw gives you almost the same as cooked shark meat. obviously something isn't quite done there and it will change.

also if you can build a nest you've already managed hunger/thirst long enough to build a research bench, anchor at an island, and deep dive for at least 2 giant clams.. so.. that seems less than helpful for starting players :)

So i got the grill and the advanced prurifier. yeah that made the problem less annoying but i would still cut it a bit down tbh. and that with the eggs is true, they need to get nerfed.

I agree, the rate at which they drain is too fast. At the start especially it seems like you're always trying to eat and drink and it's not fun
