Im not sure about easy, normal is the default one so i stuck with that. if your playing solo and you drown or get attacked by a shark multiple times you need to respawn and you end up back on the boat (you might need a bed, im not sure do make that as soon as you can)
But you will loose everything in you hotbar and inventory thats stored on your person, so ive learnt when i go in the water to only have a spear and the hook and go back to the raft often to store what i have collected.
Also helps to have multiple tools made up and stored just incase, well that's what i do. I like being prepared for when bruces 15th brother turns up ^^
Normal you cna respawn ahd will loose all your inventory items.
Hard you cannot resapwn, someone has to revive you or it is game over and you have to start over.
Just replying because I played easy at first and deaths on that mode mean nothing tbh. You lose nothing from inventory or hotbar. Deaths on this difficulty are more of a minor inconvenience of being transported back to the raft when you finally found that copper or metal that you wanted.
