What is the maximum amount of players that can be on a world?

that depends on your computer, what it can handle.

There is no limit, the devs tested the game at 7-8 people at a time.

From teh FAQ at top of forums:

""How many players can play multiplayer simultaneously"
The game will be able to host for infinite numbers of players but of course the host computer is the limitation. We have tried with 7-8 people so far. There will also be a balance problem when playing way too many people but it should be doable."
