Clay?
Friend and I are really enjoying this game so far, but we can't seem to figure out how to find clay.

It's found in darker deposits next to sand.

you must dive near islands and harvest them with the hook. You can find many items this way. Make sure to go a bit deeper too and check the edges of the beds you're harvesting from.
