Raft

Cheap or too expensive?
It is the never-ending discussion about early access indie games, but are they worth the price?

In my opinion, most early access games isn't worth their price.
It seems like Raft will be priced at roughly 20$ or in my case 20€ since I am from Denmark, this doesn't sound like a lot of money, but wait...
In Denmark our currency is DKK, so there will be some calculation in my bank when the money is being drawn from my bank account.
So every time I pay 1$ for a game on Steam, I am actually paying 1,23$, so if Raft is priced at 20$ then I will actually pay 24,6$, and we haven't taken into account that living expenses can differ a lot between countries, so while a 20$ game may be cheap for some, it might be expensive to others :)

I have played the free version of Raft and have had some fun hours with it :)
The past couple of days I have seen a lot of Youtubers playing the Early Access version of Raft, and it does look like the fun is still there just in a more polished version with more features, but in my opinion it still looks roughly like the same game, let's have a look at the features from the store page:

Features:
● Multiplayer! Survive by yourself or with friends in online co-op!
● Hook! Use your hook to catch debris floating by.
● Craft! Build survival equipment, weapons, crop plots and more to help you stay alive!
● Build! Expand your raft from a simple wreckage to a buoyant mansion.
● Research! Learn new things to craft in the research table.
● Navigate! Sail your raft towards new places!
● Dive! Drop anchor and explore the depths for more resources.
● Fight! Defend your raft from the dangers of the ocean.

Yes you can now play Raft in coop with friends, but it still doesn't looks to be more than a game where you are gathering resources to build your raft bigger and bigger with lots of structures on, there's no story, no missions, no goal, no different ways to play/directions to choose.

This is not necessarily a bad thing, these kinds of hoard and build games can be very fun and addictive, and I could see myself once in a while clock in a few hours in Raft, BUT... (and it is a big but)

I had hoped for a price around 8-10$, but suspected that it might be a bit higher because of the hype around it, so In my opinion it just isn't worth 20$, I might buy it on a sale with 40-60% off, but I hope those of you that think it is worth the price will enjoy the game and have a lot of fun hours with it :)

They have said it is $20 USD and will go up
Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?
“While the increasing size and scope of the Raft experience may in future alter the price for late adopters, players who join us during the Early Access period will absolutely have access to the full version of the game, however large it grows!”
if u dont like it, dont buy it

In my opinion i'd say the price sounds fair :p
20$ / Euro to play this with my friend who is also getting it. netting quite some hours of entertainment for that price?
really sad to see how people react to it costing 20$ almost like its 200 $ or something...

Also DKK not DKR (in case you didnt realise you wrote that wrong :) )

No-Name Developers needs the cash flow to make it worthwhile for them to keep developing the game. It basically comes down to this:

Do you want a Free to play game with In-Game purchases to keep progressing or do you want to pay a one time fee of 20 US and get everything, including new stuff added in the game until it's established?

Don't know why it's hard to comprehend this...Do you go to work for free?

think 10€-15 € for an early access game with tons of bugs will be okay ... otherwiese the players will not buy it..
@NovaStrike tell me what game in this days you pay a one time fee get everything, tell me what game lol

Ark, Conan Exiles, The Forest, Rust, etc.

These can all be played with 1 time purchases. Expansions not included as you don't need them to 'progress'.

He's right. My comment was In-Game purchases to 'progress'. Those games don't require you to buy the expansions to 'progress'.
