Raft

[Spoilers] The shark should be fired
Because it's living in a tortured, perpetual existence of chomping on wood and nails.

I actually mean to suggest that the game's antagonizing element (the "enemy") should be expanded to more broadly include a variety of random hazards, rather than a perpetual shark. The shark is adequately troublesome in the first part of the game sure, but once you learn it's mechanics, it becomes just another thing to fix when it comes around. "eat, drink, kill shark, repeat." So to make it better, I would rather sometimes these types of things might occur, both to give the game more challenge and more flavor:

1. Varied wildlife.
Jellyfish. They can be hard to see, and very very dangerous. Catching one by accident while fishing perhaps would mean having to react quickly to not be stung to death, for example. And simply having to avoid them while swimming.
Vultures. Maybe.

2. Bad weather.
Player falling off raft, due to big waves / thunder storms / wind. This would mean having to move very delicately during a storm. Could make the game a bit annoying during those sections, but hey.
Also potential cold & keeping warm mechanics.

3. Fall damage. The game doesn't currently have it. Not only taking damage from a big fall, but broken limbs that require days of rest. These could be experienced or just skipped... and then waking up after your raft has drifted a long ways, if you didn't have an anchor.

And in terms of things you encounter on an island, I think mostly that's an entirely new subject, pertaining to making the islands bigger and more interesting. But anyway, I just wanted to express that the shark element of the game would be better instead as a variety of random hazards, to simulate being on a raft rather than simulating a video game.

- more diversed creatures like crab, jellyfish, dolphin, whale, rabbit, boar, monkey, parrot. Even possibility of domesticating some.
- new threats, issues to manage: storm with lightning damage, dangerous insects and poison plant on island, big waves damages raft, etc.
- larger and new areas to explore, e.g. caves, reefs, shipwrecks.

Agreed on all points, however if they add fall damage they should give the ability to build ladders or some thing on the islands.

Yes definitely. A grappling hook would be a welcome device, for climbing up those cliffs.

I get they don't want people basing on islands, but honestly why not? I really enjoy this game, and wouldn't be upset at either very minor changes by 1.1 but I'd be super stoked with more survival layers and strategies available.

Imagine falling down with such speed that you straight up break through your foundation and into the sea.

That would be cool also. Raft fracturing/breaking would be cool as well.

What if I told you,
an island is a raft your heart made?
