just more confusion and hectic to run to and rotate multiple sails in the right direction, but
seems useful in slowing down or alter angle when having a large raft.
With the simplified physics, you can run just fine with one operating sail, regardless of where it is placed. Having more than one could be a convenience things when playing solo, and not wanting to run all the way back to the same spot on your large raft.
That might change in the future, but right now it keeps things from getting too involved. I still find it funny how you can turn a sail against the wind and bring the raft to a stop.
Does the raft rotate if 2 sails are placed and turned the right way?
In that from what I've seen, if you only have one sail and a big raft, that one sail won't be able to overcome the drag of the raft as well.
BUT, they have a pretty low max speed.
Sail can affect speed ONLY by reducing it when facing backwards,
There are currently only 2 thing that can increase speed:
- paddle: it increases speed in the direction you paddle.
- engine: it increases the speed forward or backwards, direction can be controlled by the steering wheel.
Once engines are turned on, they completely override anything a sail is doing.
Is today necromancy day or something? this is the 3rd thread from 2018 that i have seen been "revived" by different people.
There is no way to actively rotate the raft, the only way to do that is by colliding with islands. If you place 2 opposed sails, their velocity vectors cancel out and you're left drifting at default speed. Otherwise the direction of the sails averages but the max speed cannot exceed the one of a single sail.
Or get Steering Wheel from Vasagatan.
