Cooking Pot Question.
Is it worth using the cooking pot over the grill?

Normal food level is sufficient.

Cooking special meals for the extension hunger bar is only if
you have nothing better, with a surplus of ingredients.

ya, for me the question is based on eating the raw food seems to be still netting me more food stored than used over all, as I kill sharks ALOT.

Its the burning up of clay for the bowls that I dont like.
once you go to big islands yes, until then likely the only thing you could make with it would be veggie broth and simple fish stew, and of course leftovers(anything that doesn’t follow a recipe) but a lot of recipes need milk or eggs and cave mushrooms or silver algae, all of which you need to go to an island to get
also islands have *lots* of clay

I see this sort of question come up a fair amount and I'm actually surprised by how many people don't really seem to use it. Once I get my cooking pot going, I eat a LOT of veggie stew. I realize you need the bowls constantly, but your hunger is satisfied for SO much longer with 1 bowl of soup vs. say 4 cooked veggies. And since I'm often diving for metal, it's no biggie to pick up clay while I'm down there.

Granted, if I'm just hanging out on the boat, I'll just grill up some fish usually, but island exploring or diving, I'll fill up that hunger bar.

well mabye its cause i made my raft really wide with the whole center span net catch things, and i have 6 sails, and i just let my raft go nuts down the horizon catching debris, while i spend several game days busting down my 18 tree plots with a stone axe, also, using metal arrows to kill the shark every time i see it spawn. so between the shark steaks, and cocunuts, im super full.

I would say it depends on what difficulty you play on, I play on Hard and my foodmeter drops pretty fast, and that makes cooking in the cookingpot worth it due to the extended foodmeter.

It can be a bit annoying to cook the food since I mainly do veggie stew and its 1 bowl per cooking. To solve this I now have about 35-40 small plots where I farm potatoes using the new sprinkler systems to cut down on watering-time. I make about a large box full of stew and then once that is almost empty I refill it.

Compared to just eating grilled food I enjoy this more since it gives me alot more time without having to worry about food when exploring islands.

ya, i think it might have alot to do with as soon as i see the shark bite my raft, i shoe him away, but dive in to finish him off.
as well as have about 18 palm trees, it takes me a whole game day just to chop em down, and i get a day or 2 worth of coconuts out of, using the stone axe seems to net you more loot than the metal one for some reason

I kill the sharks quite often aswell, even though I have a large box of sharkmeat and my raft is entirely armored, just because I like to dive at the islands to fill my boxes with loot :)

It gets a bit more interesting on hard though since I more often than not have 2-3 sharks at the same time, so diving in to fight them can be quite dangerous, specially since on hard I cant revive myself, I have to get a friend to log in and get me out of the water and back to my bed.

Without the extended food meter from using a cooking pot, I doubt that I'd play this anymore since it gives a really nice long time between when you need to eat again. Eating and drinking in this game are simply a chore and boring because it needs to be done so often so the cooking pot helps a good way towards alleviating that.

I think I've got 10 or 12 cooking pots on my boat, I like to get it over with in one or two batches that will last me a while instead of trying to do it 10 times in one pot.

I've seen people request help in that situation and some folks friend up, go help the person then unfriend them again. Those requests come up from time to time in this forum.

I personally only ever play Raft multiplayer with my partner at home but never with strangers, I've had too many of them in other games rip me off blind or do a lot of destructive things.

Completely understandable, I dont trust strangers, should I die id rather wait a few hours or even days to get a friend online than trust a stranger that might just toss my entire raft overboard, up the anchor and let it drift away before he logs out again.
