Captain O`Captain Achievement

Hello all! Im just wondering if there is any good tip out there to find the island where you can get the captain O`captain achievement? Have floated around 20+ hours now just looking for this island and nothing so far..

Its random, alll you MAYBE can do is install mods and spawn the island

Btw i had both islands in myy current (long pace) game i still had no radio
but its even without radio no real fresh game

Any other option than to install a mod?

It is just a matter of luck. One thing I did find help ( have been to about half a dozen ship wreck islands ) is to build a look out tower. Not too high, about 6/7 units should be fine. They have increased the amount of mist which limits visibility but if you use the binoculars and scan the horizon you can, sometimes, see the outline of an island that you would normally miss.
It is obvious from the large flag flying from the summit.

Okey. But the thing is that i have several look out towers on my raft way higher than that and when there is mist, even light mist on the horizon its hard to see anything with the binoculars unfortunately. But i recon i should keep watching with the binoculars but from about 6-7 blocks up?

Just my experience. If you go too high you can actually see less well in a light / heavy fog. The binoculars don't really make a lot of difference but can give you a slight edge.

Current game 2nd island was the plane island

For me we just floated along, slowly learning and would drift till we saw land (no Antenna or radar), it eventually popped up. Never saw a giant island for 30 days at least till the Radar was working, so dunno if it is possible for it to spawn, but could try going without?

Think it was the first land mass we actually discovered that wasn't just rocks or the tall island with no way up unless you build a tower.

as i said, 2nd island. So really no radar, i would not even say i had a raft with the few foundations
(But i speak about the plane island)

So far i have found 3 "ship" islands and only 1 "plane" island after 300 days

Thanks guys!.. I will try just float around with a average of 7 block tower to climb upto and just be on the lookout for a flag really and high rocks hehe..

Even with more high you will not see much more islands

The most islands you miss because they never come in sight at all or you are busy doing other things and dont look out for islands
