How to kill Garret?
This fight seems so impossible...

Another one of those fights that you have to prepare the whole game for.
I don't have any idea how to survive past turn 2.
Garret throws a pulse grenade on turn 1.

The pulse grenade is probably your biggest problem. If your initiative is lower than his or you can't kill him before he throws the grenade, use the cloaking field so he doesn't throw at you, then kill him as soon as possible.

Yeah I tried killing Garret first and it works but then his guys kill all my guys in 1 turns or 2.

Did you bring Romeo? If you someone with a bit of stealth, you can use a cloaking field to take Garrett + 1 or 2 out before the fight.

Use grenades against them, smoke to help your guys survive, disruptor and pulse to really mess up the enemy. Break out the energy weapons for the robot.

I have high grade smoke and it doesn't really work. They still shoot through it easily.

I never managed to find out how to repair the Robot. I tried looking everywhere of course.

Ultimately, if it's too hard for your current squad, maybe just betray your faction and come back on a replay with a vengeance.

Having a less than optimal first playthrough seems common for a lot of RPGs. Of course, replaying is up to your schedule.

Really sucks to be stuck in this spot. I didn't know you were supposed to go for a combat character since the character creator showed you the talker option.

Yeah, being forced to be a traitor on a diplomacy playthrough isn't too satisfying for players. Takes the agency from the player at an important moment.

You can go non-combat you're just going to have to betray people. If it makes you feel better, Protectorate was supposed to be handling the security, you are just a minion. Clearly they didn't do a very good job

I don't know. Kinda sad to have to end my run here. It was a good game until this point... Now it just feels sad to leave it unfinished.

You don't have to stop here. If you can't make the fight winnable with stealth or other means, just ally with Garrett instead. Brotherhood isn't lying when they offer you a free pass. To win this game without fighting, you are going to have to sometimes do questionable things. Cobra herself used to be a Brotherhood officer so you may as well jump factions too.

What's your party look like?

If you have the science + lockpick member you should be able to repair and upgrade romeo enough & also access to more grenade and better gadget.

If you have the decent sneak member you should be able to kill most of them through sneak:

My solo hybrid approach (similar but vs cobra) incase you need battle inspiration:

I didn't get enough lockpick or computers somehow. I found only later that you are supposed to really minmax everything in this game. I have Evans who is completely useless always since rifles don't do enough damage per AP cost. My character who is completely useless in combat except for throwing grenades. She always dies even with the heaviest armor and a really good energy shield. Jed does good damage but somehow dies in this fight really easily so it's a huge jump in difficulty. Faythe is pretty ueseless except with an energy pistol and I had to use all my cells killing those big monsters in Hydrponics (red) with questionable value loot rewards. Naturally, I did not know I would have a fight like this.
