If you aren't against mods maybe you could try that? Though if you like getting the achivements you should get those first because I think you can't get them when you play with mods. And of course ALWAYS BACKUP your files!
Then you should definitely check those mixed era mods out, there are a few but I like JWR best since it also gives a boost to herbs and add more gene slots among other stuff.
I've already modded my game but before I did I found something stupid that you have to do. If you look at your research facility in sandbox and look out genetics or fossils, you have to reach a certain star on the specific campaign islands, for example, I need to have 4* on Tacano facility to be able to have the Spinoraptor in my sandbox. So that's that I guess.
