Incubation Viability Percentage
Is it just me or does it seem like 75% incubation is more like 1/3 chance. It really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sucks losing $4m dinousaurs several times because 75% does not actually equal 75%...

Sounds like bad luck. I manage to incubate even dinos with 52% on first try, but sometimes you are just out of luck and even 98% fails. As long as it isnt 100% you have to be ready to pay again

75% is 75%, sounds like bad luck there. Did you modify the dino? Modifications reduce viability. You could take some off to raise the % or get some more expositions done first. Or use upgrades.

I've had a 100% genome fail to incubate once so it does happen. Research success rate (any will do but obviously highest one you can) and fill all available upgrade slots in the hatchery with success rate. Never had a dino fail since doing that with success rate 3.0

Yea, I know this is an older thread but this is still a thing. I came looking for this exact issue. I have no problem with the viability being lower.... just SAY its lower. Don't tell me its 80% when its clearly more like 25%.

Sounds like you just don't understand percentages and chance.

If you have a 99% chance of succeeding in anything, you can still fail several times in a row. It's just your perception that tells you that you should have more successes.

With 75% chance you are probably thinking every 3 in 4 should succeed. But with such a small sample size that might not alays be the case. What 75% means is that when you keep trying again and again, 75% will succeed. 250 out of 750 will fail. And if manyof those fails might happen in the first 250 tries and then it would seem to be off while it's in fact not.

Check out how old the topic is I linked and read everything that have been wrote.

The probability of 1% is very, very low.

The only thing of why 1% is failing that often appears to be that the algorithm checking for a fail or a success appears to be called more than once.
So the 99% might get checked a few times before a dinosaur is complete giving the 1% more chances to be hit.
Otherwise the RNG is garbage.

I personally can only recommend to not risking too much with the viability.
I personally don't go under 100%, which is easy as soon as you have success rate 4.0.
You got a bonus of 120% to your viability, so you can "destroy" the genes to -80%.

Never heard of RNG? If it can ♥♥♥♥ you over, it will ♥♥♥♥ you over.

So how about when I have -75% chance to incubate but +120% success chance and it fails?

Well... with a viability of -75% you cannot get back to 100% even with +120%.

If you have a viability of -20%, then you would get to 100% with a bonus of +120%.
But as of having -75%, you just get to a overall viability of 45%.
-75 + 120 = 45.

ooooooh ok for some reason i figured 100% base -75% +120%= 145%

Edit*
Few days later i see my math logic error. i haz the dumb

If you have hatchery insurance it will give you a certain percentage of the money back after a dinosaur fails incubation
