Gates on roads!
SO I didn't really think of it until the final map... but the lack of being able to created gated roads is actually very annoying. The very first JP had a HUGE (decorative, admittedly) gate on a road... and more than 20 years later this game fails to even offer that?

There aren't even roads so idk what you're complaining about. There's only paths and you obviously aren't building a gate on a path.

What is a road? A road is a paved path intended to be ridden by animals or vehicles. So yes... I am in fact creating roads. JFC, what a worthless comment... if you can't understand why I might want gated roads, let me just introduce you to Isla Sorna.

A number of us have posted this in the official wish list some time ago, hopefully it'll be a thing in the future

Main use is to have staff only areas so I can have all my utilities and centres away from guest attractions

I also added on this a staff only monorail stop, so you can completely segregate staff areas even down to not having pathways leading there. Both are highly desired

i'd like to block roads too or build roads exclusively for my jeeps to not have them drive around buildings and through visitors. Would offer much more depth to the plannning of ones park

Um not too fussed about the road aspect, the ranger jeep is an off road vehicle so I tend to not use roads (plus it's quicker and more fun when you hit uneven terrain) but the segregation of staff and visitor is definitely lacking

Others want roads though so I'm all for multiple options

Sure jeeps are off road vehicles and you can reach gates rather fast, but it definitely is way quicker to optimise pathing with roads and use even terrain xD It is physically impossible for uneven terrain to be the faster route unless the distance is significantly shorter
When driving yourself that might be more fun, but that only works for small parks. With a huge park and multiple ranger stations uneven terrain massively slows the AI trying to repair the fence as their pathing isnt optimal to begin with, so when you want to have zero casualties and zero outbreaks .... streets would be more efficient. You yourself arent fast enough and unable to split yourself

Would be cool to have gated roads tbh. I could have gates between my large carnivore paddocks and the rest of the park. If one of the carnis breaks out, i could then easily just lock the gates to add another layer of protection until the dinosaur is safely darted and contained.

It would be usefull to contain a breakout. So yes we need this

Yeah this game is really pretty but so limiting. Not to mention a LOT of what it looks like we want to do, we can't because of size limitation. I was personally just thinking about creating a more open-aired 'safari' style zoo, with monorails and gyros as the visiter experience while walling off and blocking the visitor/employee area so the dinos can't just walk in and eat them. I can technically do that, but then I have no roads/pathways, which I admit I mainly want for decorative purposes right now, but what if I wanted to make multiple smaller enclaves.

I've not tried having isolated monorails connected to paths that don't connect back to the arrival point, can that be done? It's not the same as roads, but its a work around for what I want to do on the sandbox when I go there finally.

if you use monorail stations then you don't need pathing in between. As long as 1 monorail station connects to pathing that goes to the arrival point, then you can just have a completely seperate section of pathing that just goes to each other monorail station

IIRC last night it actually increased my parks transport rating on Tacano when I deleted the long section of path connecting top and bottom and just left the access as monorail only between the two furthest ends and the arrival point
Renown Jun 20, 2018 @ 11:41pm
yeah I've been doing that now too after suggesting it here myself. Now that's how I build my transpo routes. I even sometimes build TWO monorails because that boosts visibility and are in effect another sort of "viewing" mechanism.

Gates in roads were nice, but one Thing, that is really Lacking, ist the possibility to Gate gyrospheres from one Paddock to the next. The Game is in most areas designed for a high variety of small Paddocks. A single large one is mostly useless, since only sauropodae and hadrosauriae are able to effectively use them due to their high Population tollerance.

Unfortunately, small Paddocks make gyrospheres almost useless, especial on the uneven Terrain. So it should be possible to build a gyrosphere-ride throughout several different Paddocks.

Just build the gyrospheres outside the paddocks if you have the space to. You don't need to build gyros inside a paddock and their dino visibility is a circle around the balls themselves much like the monorail

That way you can have a JP style vehicle tour, albeit with the wrong vehicles currently

interesting suggestion there eddie. I'll try that.
