WHAT HAPPENED TO DEINONYCHUS?
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ i was so excited to see that deinonychus were in the game! The raptor "big cousin" has always been one of my favorite dinosaur, especially knowing that jurassic park raptor actually look like more deynonichus than real raptors.
But then i unlocked the beast and...♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
Deinonychus in this game are ugly as hell, don't look like real deinonychus AT ALL and are actually smaller than raptor?
I know jurassic park changed some dino(dilophausorus are small, raptors are big) but wow...If you wanted to create an ugly ass dino like that why don't name it oviraptor. The in-game model actually look like more oviraptor than deinonychus.
I just want a dev explanation please.....

I know I'm late, but in my opinion it looks like absolute ♥♥♥♥. I know they had to differentiate it from the Velociraptor, but giving it a finned-dragon like tail and a head crest that looks like a retarded cassowary hurts me on a whole other level.
I know it's not aiming for accurate, I'm perfectly fine with that. But making it that hideous doesn't seem like a smart option.
If you have other opinions, that's absolutely great. This is just my two cents.

InGen breeds the Deinonychus with a comb and a fleshy tail ridge (even if there was no evidence they had eaither in the fossil record, but this is Jurassic Park/ World so I can give it a pass).

I think the devs where using older reconstructions which had shorter and taller skulls to further differentiate it from Velociraptor which uses the modern look for its head design.

I think is a missinterpretation of the film (They did it consciously by the show, Velociraptor sounds way better) what they call velociraptor is actually a deinonychus (Deinonychus was way bigger than velociraptor). "https://www.smithsonianmag.com/science-nature/you-say-velociraptor-i-say-deinonychus-33789870/"

In my aopinion 2 options/solutions here:
>Exchange this 2 dinos names.
>Accep it as and interesting thing from the film series and the book. John Ostrom was the deinonychus discoverer and Michael Crichton use his work tho create the character but change the name.

It's not really possible for Velociraptor to change what it tooks like in the franchise, and I don't think they would do a name change eaither, otherwise it would have been done years ago.

Deinonychus has a better chance for a change to apearence in this game, though it will proabbly continue to sport scales.

Deinonychus are cute chickens. :doge:

Deinonychus was designed the way it was as Velociraptor actually resembles the real life Deinonychus more than the actual Velo itself. Would you rather a badass comb raptor? Or a raptor that looks exactly the same as another one?

I smell Elvisraptor here... lol
Deinonychus resembles Elvis Presley.

I prefer Cryolophosaurus as the Elvis of Dinosaurs.

I think of it like this: If Velociraptor is a misidentified Deinonychus in JW/JP then the Deinonychus in JWE must be a misidentified new species of raptor.

I honestly didn't think I'd like them at all but with the small sail of skin going from their head down their back and over their tail I think they look more stylish.

Its not revealed what the Velociraptor actually is. All the book says is tht Grant, the actual expert, disagrees wiith Wus classification. The whole Deinonychus bull is made up by the artists behind the movie because that is what they did. Its not cannon, its not even movie cannon.

Well even so, that still makes my 'look at it as a misidentified raptor' way of thinking more relevant ^^

The deinonychus looks fine to me, especially with the taiga and rainforest color patterns. As for realism, even the movies acknowledge that the dinosaurs are inaccurate to their real life counterparts. They're genetically engineered monsters that vaguely resemble the dinosaurs they're based off of.
