A carnivore will attack other herbivores of the same size or smaller.
If there is two size units between the carnivore and herbivore, then they can exist just fine. If the herbivore is only one size unit above, the carnivore will worry the herbivore but not outright attack.
Lay on top of this the comfort level of the dinos so that an unhappy carnivore will basically get a bonus size. So a Dilophosaurus (small carnivore) will live with a Brachiosaurus (large herbivore) without issue. But may start snapping at the Brachiosaurus if the Dilophosaurus becomes unhappy.
There also seems to be some wiggle room depending on the individual dino. I don’t know if this is due to the modifications or some kind of hidden variable. But I’ve seen that two different versions of the same dino will will have different compatibility.
I had a pen with small carnivores living ok with medium herbivores until one of the carnivores died. When one of the carnivores died of old age I replaced it with the same breed (not sure if it was the same mods). And the new carnivore just started attacking the herbivores.
And the Indominus Rex just seems to attack everything.
-Any Herbivore with any herbivore
-Small Carnivores with Armored/Giant herbivores
Following can cohabitate but will constantly panic in smaller paddocks (which can lead to starvation/thirst), if a dino is tranq'ed they can be killed by any carnivore seeing the easy meal
-Small Carnivores with Medium Herbivores
-Large Carnivores with Giant Herbivores
-Small Carnivores with large carnivores
Following cohabitations will lead to eventual killing
-Small Carnivores with small herbivores
-Small Carnivores with other different Small Carnivores
-Large Carnivores with Small/Medium/Armored Herbivores
-Large Carnivore with other different Large Carnivores
if your unsure which type a dino is classified as, its listed on their Bio tab under classification when you select them in the world.
Basically all Sauropods are giant herbivores
all variants of the Trikes,Stegosaurs, and Ankylosaurs are armored
any carnivore smaller than a ceratosaur is a small carnivore, otherwise are large carnivore
