Stuck on Isla Tacano Science Mission
Ok, so the mission is to get a velociraptor and diplodocus to 80% genome...got both at 100%.

Then keep both in an enclosure and maintain a below-comfort threshold for 3 minutes.

The raptor is easy, put it alone and boom, it's below comfort quickly.

But for the life of me I cannot get the Diplodocus to below it's comfort threshold. I've got it in the same pen with the raptor, with just a small pond for water, no trees....and it hovers at 80%.

Do I really need to put it in an enclosure with 24 other dinosaurs at this point? Am I really going to have to breed 24 freaking struthys just to make this damn thing upset?

You're probably better off putting it in a small enclosure alone; at least, that's how I managed it. I designated a space for it (where I'd been planning to place some carnivore enclosures but had yet to build them) and made a literal box for it with a feeder and what was basically a puddle. It was about the size of two full lengths of fence on all sides with no curves. I bred her in a normal enclosure with other Diplodocus and Brachiosaurus inside beforehand, tranquilized and transferred her into the box, let her comfort drop until the timer rolled over and then transferred her back.

Cool, I'll try that, may have to rework some space, and just keep that damn raptor tranqed.

Hope it works out for you! If you've already got the check mark for the Velociraptor being uncomforable for three minutes then you can put in a few more and sate it's comfort needs. Once it's checked off it's all fine.
I had a lab that was caged, seriously like a tiny box, nothing inside. On either side of that box was a gate to the left for herbivores, and a gate to the right for carnivores.

Instead of opening up the appropriate gate for my diplodocus I just left it in that tiny box with nothing. It eventually got uncomfortable enough to fulfill the quest. So try something like that, just a tiny enclosure with nothing in it.

I can easily get the Diplo to fall below its comfort threshold by simply putting it in a real small enclosure... but the timer doesn't count down. It's sitting there at 0 comfort bashing the heck out of my walls and the timer is sitting at 3:00 refusing to budge. I already have the Velociraptor portion completed, and the third objective to secure any loose dinosaurs is completed.

Same as Beee. I'm stuck because the timer won't start.

i just air lifted it to a pen i made with no water food, grassland and forest, that worked for me

If the countdown hasn't started are you sure the Diplo is the target one and not some pre-existing diplo? You have to make a new diplo (and velociraptor) to get this started. You can't just use any old dino. Must be new one.

I know, I did this. Tranq and moved an existing one to the prison I built for her. She went mad and the tickmark in the task was missing and then timer for comfort therefore didn't start. Build a new diplo and good to go.

You may be on to something. I remembered seeing the raptor was mission-specific, but forgot to notice if I was using the correct Diplo. I'll give this a try

I created a brand new one. Still have the timer issue.

Did you create one while the mission was already going? Because it doesn't work like that. The mission has 3 parts. The first part consists of releasing a velociraptor and a diplo. Those 2 specific dinosaurs will be your test subjects. Any other dinosaur released after them will NOT count, only those 2. The second part consists of getting their comfort level below it's critical point for 3 minutes and the last part is getting the comfort levels back up. The 2 dinosaurs that count for this will have a special marker on the map view.

Also there is a hidden rule that not more than 5 guests can be killed during that time, so make sure they don't escape and kill guests.

Even though this is an old thread I can help other viewers. I have an enclosure with population, socialization, and basically everything balanced with all my dinosaurs in there. The Diplo is resilient to most things besides loneliness and no forest. In my situation I did not want to remove all the dinos, because there are so many, that I removed all forest and literally played the waiting game. It affected all of them but it was manageable.

This is the right solution, it helps me when timer won't start. I found Diplo #1 and isolated it, and timer finally started ticking
